Global Hot Spot: The Aquarius New Moon on January 31 – February 1, 2022

Updated: Feb 8, 2022

“Life is not a spectator sport. If you are going to spend your whole life in the grandstand just watching what goes on, in my opinion you’re wasting your life.”

Jackie Robinson, born January 31, 1919, #42 for the Brooklyn Dodgers who broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball on April 15, 1947 at age 28 before a crowd of 26,623 fans at Ebbets Field.

Dateline January 30, 2022: For those of you who are now enjoying the Astrology Cosmic Kalendar one day at a time – but who have not yet subscribed to be able to look several weeks into the future – here are the calendar entries for two very significant days (Monday January 31 and Tuesday February 1). Because every day – beyond the current 24 hours that we define as one rotation of our celestial orb on its axis – has astro-zodiacal magic, mystery and wonder is why thousands of people around the world have been tuning into the Astrological Cosmic Kalendar for the last 40 years and since it was at the heart-center of our Welcome to Planet Earth pioneering astrology newspaper/magazine during the 1980s and 1990s.

The Aquarius New Moon (aka the Chinese Lunar New Year of the Tiger) happening on Monday January 31 – Tuesday February 1, 2022 can make an extraordinary impact in your personal life and for all of humanity. You can read more about the upcoming New Moon vibrations in one of the two future calendar entries below as well as tune into Tuesday February 1 when Venus unites with Vesta in Capricorn, Juno enters Aquarius until April 20, and the Sun parallels Saturn. Please consider the merits of subscribing to the Astrology Cosmic Kalendar App to strengthen your already developing skills as a seer who can tune into the future ahead of time.

For a wide variety of insights on both of these rather momentous days this month – particularly associated with the USA birth chart from July 4, 1776 – please listen to my recent podcasts in the Mark Lerner Astrology Radio AstroScope section on our website. Plus, in several of these podcasts I discuss the discovery on November 14, 2003 of the far-distant planet Sedna – which has an 11,400-year orbit around our Sun – and currently is making a rare, profound conjunction with the largest asteroid Ceres and the Mean Lunar North Node in late-Taurus near the Pleiades constellation.

In addition, in the Aquarius New Moon horoscope calculated for Washington, D.C, surprise-bringer, revolutionary Uranus in Taurus is exactly setting while the asteroid Hygeia – a key planetary body connected to health – is exactly rising. This potent and unsettling opposition along the horizon in our nation’s capital is coinciding with the continuing surge of hospitalizations associated with the Omicron variant of the pandemic and a giant snow-wind-ice storm along the New England area of the East Coast. There are other profound and anomalous sky configurations occurring during this solar-lunar polarity and the chart is shown at the end of this feature.

Future Cosmic Kalendar Entries for Monday January 31 and Tuesday February 1 (All times are listed in PST)

Monday January 31 This last day of January is a dynamo — combining the potential for great personal and worldly empowerment with the need to be circumspect and patient. Before the Moon leaves void status in earthy Capricorn to enter airy Aquarius (1:44am), the Moon unites with the asteroid Juno (12:41am). Strive for serenity to experience peace and harmony personally and to extend TLC to dear ones on the edge. As indicated at the close of yesterday’s calendar entry, the dark-of-the-moon phase is ongoing until the New Moon clocks in at 9:47pm activating 13 degrees of Aquarius. Your problem-solving and strategic thinking skill-sets are reinforced as Mercury in Capricorn forms a supportive, 60-degree rapport with Pallas Athena in Pisces (2:51am) and investment planning is essential since Vesta in Capricorn trines Uranus in Taurus (12:32pm). While the Aquarius New Moon (also the Chinese Lunar New Year) is a definite momentum-builder and launches the next four weeks of solar-lunar phases, the celestial scene tomorrow contains both turbulence and exuberance as the Sun and Moon connect with often restrictive Saturn, Venus energizes soul-sister bonds by uniting with Vesta in Capricorn, Juno darts into mind-expanding Aquarius until April 20, Pallas Athena jousts with Uranus and a nearly 24-hour void lunar zone in Aquarius begins at 3:02am on Tuesday and lasts until the Moon enters watery Pisces at 3:01am on Groundhog Day Wednesday February 2. Put on your thinking cap and wizard’s robe as the dazzling and profound first month of 2022 morphs into a wild, unsettled and fasten-your-seatbelts second month. Tuesday February 1 With the power of the Aquarius New Moon — aka the Chinese Lunar New Year — having just occurred at 9:47pm last night, building forward momentum across the board is essential. However, several cosmic obstacles are tossed into the mix to test your resolve and determination. The Moon uniting with Saturn (3:02am) in airy Aquarius begins a nearly exact 24-hour void-of-course lunar uncertainty zone that remains in effect until the Moon enters water sign Pisces at 3:01am tomorrow. Remember a key facet of any void lunar cycle is that finishing old business on a high note makes sense while taking great leaps ahead is taboo. Adding to the current conundrum are the Sun parallel often restrictive Saturn (8:02am) plus problem-solver Pallas Athena in Pisces forming a dicey, 45-degree aspect to surprise-bringer Uranus in Taurus (10:42pm). Nevertheless, soul-sister ties and investment planning are still energized — thanks to a potent conjunction between Venus and Vesta at 12 degrees of Capricorn (6:32am). It is wise to enjoy exploring these areas of life without overdoing a good thing as Mercury continues its retrograde journey until Thursday. Asteroid watchers should also be on alert due to peace-and-harmony advocate Juno shifting gears from Capricorn to Aquarius (3:06pm) in a cycle lasting until April 20. [Note to readers: All times are calculated for Pacific Standard Time. Be sure to adjust all times according to your own local time so the alignments noted above will be exact for your location.]
